Monday, July 12 - Day 29 - 103.1 Miles - 2130 Total Miles

You are in luck. Kim is not your guest blogger today. Steve is back (if you did not know, my main language is sarcasm).

After yesterday's fiasco, we needed to get an early start today...hope for good wind and weather...and get some good miles in. The goal for the day was to get to Scott City, 103 miles away. Early start....check. Good wind....check. Good weather....check. The first 80 miles, we flew with a tailwind until we reached the town of Leoti. At that point, the wind switched on us and we were greeted with a head/crosswind for the last 25 miles. Twenty-five miles of work out of 103 was quite alright with us.

I was torn between putting up a video or pictures of the scenery for today. I decided to go with a slide show:
Just stare at this picture and blink every 5 seconds. In 20 blinks the slideshow is finished and your view of our day's scenery is complete.

We are in a mom and pop motel for the evening in Scott City. We have been staying inside a lot lately, but with night time temps staying in the 70's, Kim and the kids would burn up in the van. Anything for the family!!! Hopefully we can get back to the cheaper lodging soon before we run out of cash.

Kim had mentioned the Lake Placid couple in yesterday's journal, but forgot to mention the family from Pennsylvania that we met. They are crossing the US from east to west and seem like a really nice family. If you would like to read about their story and adventures, you can read about them at: www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/heinle

That is it for today...we are hoping to get another 80-90 miles down the road tomorrow. We also get to see some familiar faces again as Kyle's mom and brother (not the lazy one) should be here to travel with us starting tomorrow evening. I know Kyle is looking forward to seeing family. Thanks again for reading.

  1. Just so you all know, I was going to buy everyone dinner when you guys get into Kentucky, but after the lazy comment I might rethink it. Haha, nah... I'm just kidding. That was hilarious. Stay safe everyone.....
