We do have an update to our transportation. We have opted to forgo the Trailblazer, pulling a pop up camper. Instead, the trip will be made in a conversion van that I bought off a good friend of mine. Needless to say, the kids are excited about the extra room, tv, and Playstation system that can be played en route. My wife is just as pleased with the fact that she will not be towing a camper through the mountains behind a vehicle with half the power of the van. So, at least on departure day, I will have the family in a good mood.
Anna's New Ride Makes Her Jump For Joy
This Will Be A Familiar Sight As We Make Our Way To The Start In Oregon
Another small change is in the decision to not get a broadband internet plan for the trip. It was going to set us back a good amount of money, so we decided that coffee shops, libraries, hotels, etc. will have to do. That may make for less chances to update this site, but we will do the best we can. Updates from the road will begin on the week of the 7th. We are taking our time in making our way out to the Portland Airport to pick up Kyle and Bobby. We will visit family in Minnesota, see the sights in the Black Hills of South Dakota, and spend a night in Montana, on our way to Oregon.
Training is going well for me and Kyle. We ride every day, even if it is just an hour or so. This 3 day weekend was very productive as we were able to cover 200 miles. The weather was awesome, and we feel pretty good about our fitness. Bobby is trying to get in rides as time allows. Full time studies, part time work, and a full time social calendar has kept his miles down a little. But, I am sure he will be fine as we get the ride under way. He is in good shape and he is about half of my age. That should be good for something.
Well, there should not be much else to say until our departure. Thanks for checking in to see how things are going for us. We will try to capture the trip's events to the best of our ability.
