"Trip of a Lifetime"

That is what I have told my family. I am not sure if everyone is buying it. My wife, Kim has been a pretty easy sell. A recent bout with cancer, a home business (http://www.beautifullydunn.com/) that has consumed her life for the past few years, and a hectic schedule made her easy to convince. My daughter, Anna, was a little reluctant. I can see her point...living out of a pop-camper for an entire summer is a big change from her summer routine.

My son, Nathan, is a creature of habit. And that habit includes XBOX 360 and playing music. I have to admit that I have not tried too hard to replace his need for video games on this trip, but I am going to miss listening to he and his friend playing their ACDC cover songs in the garage.

I have been the easiest sell. Getting to see the country from the seat of a bicycle should be amazing. I am not crazy enough to think it is all going to be fun. Trying to find a place to sleep everyday for 8 weeks could get old. Crazy weather, headwinds, and bad drivers are all factors that could drain from the fun. But, a positive and patient attitude by the six of us, will be the deciding factor on how much fun we have.

I look forward to spending 8 weeks with my family and two riding partners, Bobby and Kyle. Bobby's analytical view of the world should be good for many laughs and Kyle's dry and grammatically correct humor could be of utmost importance on those days where nothing goes right.

Well...I have a lot to get finished and only 77 days to get it all done.
